Ysyakh festivities aka yakut new year

If you are traveling in June, do not miss Ysyakh – the major Yakut folk festival held at the summer solstice. The biggest celebrations take place in the village of Zhetai just 20 km north of Yakutsk. The event is filled with Yakut culture: costumes, dances, rites and rituals, food, paintings, official speeches , etc. A not-to-be-missed event if you are in Yakutsk at this time.
