Kurgan
KURGAN - КУРГАН
The city was founded 1679. It has never been a venue of any major historic events. Thus, the city can boast of no big historic or cultural value. Nevertheless, Kurgan makes a good place to stay overnight and to break a rather long drive from Omsk to Chelyabinsk.

shadrinsk - шадринск
The town of Shadrinsk founded in 1662 is located in the north-west corner of the Kurgan Oblast. "A cobblestone is the weapon of the proletariat". The famous statue was created by Soviet artist Ivan Shadr born in 1887 who grew up in Shadrinsk. The gypsum original is displayed in the Tretyakov Art gallery in Moscow. The bronze original is installed in the December Uprising Square in Moscow. A copy is here in Shadrinsk. The statue of Ivan Shadr is flanked by his two works. The other one is called "A seasonal worker". Why there are no more proletariat revolutions in the world? Because cobblestone streets and squares have long been paved.
